Welcome to Mizzou. Here’s what you need to know before you park.
Whether you’re attending an event, meeting with a department or exploring campus for the first time, we’re glad to have you here. To make your visit smooth, please review these important parking policies.
Who qualifies for a visitor or guest parking permission?
- Visitor: A person who is not a student, employee, faculty member, contractor, vendor or service technician
- Guest: A person who has received an official invitation from the University of Missouri
Visitor parking permissions allow access to designated visitor spaces for the approved date(s). In metered areas, visitors must also pay the meter fee.
All Mizzou parking areas, including those in lots and structures, are managed on a paid-permission basis, with rates set annually and approved by the Board of Curators.
Refunds for unused visitor or guest parking permissions are not issued, unless approved by Parking & Transportation.
Some lots or structures may be made available at reduced or no cost for certain visitors, subject to Parking & Transportation’s approval.
Mizzou uses License Plate Recognition (LPR) to manage and enforce parking. This means:
- Your license plate is your permit. No decals or hang-tags are required.
- All permissions are issued virtually.
- Citations are emailed, not placed on your windshield (you may see a notice on your window only if your vehicle has multiple unpaid violations or is not linked to an active account).
- Park with your license plate clearly visible from the driving lane.
- Plates must be mounted horizontally and upright, at least 12 inches from the ground.
- No objects (tow hitches, frames, covers, etc.) may block or obscure your plate.
- Ensure your vehicle is correctly registered with Mizzou Parking & Transportation via your parking account.
- Service technicians requiring close access for work should contact Parking & Transportation for a special permit.
