Where official Mizzou vehicles belong and what drivers need to know.
From service trucks to golf carts, all Mizzou-owned or operated vehicles have designated places to park and clear guidelines to follow. Here’s what departments and drivers should keep in mind.
University-provided parking and storage is available for official Mizzou vehicles, which are those owned, operated or administered by Mizzou or its agencies.
- This applies to shared-use vehicles, not those assigned to an individual employee or department for exclusive, daily use.
- Parking & Transportation will be reimbursed for the direct cost of providing this space.
- Even when driving a university vehicle, all traffic and parking rules still apply, including parking permission requirements.
- Parking & Transportation may designate or adjust official vehicle parking zones to:
- Keep vehicles secure
- Maintain safety
- Prioritize the best use of limited parking space across campus
Golf carts, Gators and similar low-speed vehicles fall under special rules.
Applies to:
- All leased, owned or rented golf cart-type vehicles used by Mizzou departments.
- Event-use vehicles, even if used temporarily.
- Not applicable to carts used exclusively on the Gustin Golf Course or University Farms (unless they leave those areas.
Requirements:
- All carts must be registered with Parking & Transportation.
- Each cart must display clear department identification on the outside of the vehicle.
- All operators must hold a valid driver’s license.
Carts may only be driven on public roadways if they meet National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) standards for street-legal vehicles.
Privately owned golf carts are not permitted on Mizzou property unless written approval is granted by Parking & Transportation.
