Inclement Weather

Snow, ice and safety first.

When winter weather rolls in, our top priority is keeping the Mizzou community safe. During periods of snow or ice, certain parking adjustments may be necessary to support efficient snow removal and safer driving conditions across campus.

Here’s what to expect and how to plan ahead.

When conditions become slick or hazardous, the top floors of campus parking structures may temporarily close until conditions improve.

  • Look for signage at the structure entrance.
  • Closure signs are orange and read “Top Floor Closed.”

If the sign is up, the closure is in effect even if the top floor looks clear.

If you normally park on the top level:

  • Park one level lower than your assigned space.
  • You will not receive a citation for doing so.
  • This permission remains in effect all day, even if the top floor reopens later.

Note: Ramp levels follow the permission level of the lower floor they connect to. For example, a ramp from Level 3 to Level 4 requires Level 3 permission.

If your designated parking area is full due to inclement weather adjustments, we’re here to help.

Call Parking & Transportation at 573-882-4568 or email us at muparking@missouri.edu and ask for help finding an available location. You also can proceed to one of the Tier 3 or Tier 4 parking locations since lots and structures in the campus core are more likely to be full.

Assess the situation.

Dial 911 if it’s an emergency. If not, contact your roadside assistance provider or the MU Police Department at 573-882-7201.
