CashKey is a programmable key that provides a cashless way to use
parking meters operated by the University of Missouri. The CashKey
can be carried on your key chain or stored in your vehicle and eliminates
the need to carry coins for meter parking.
How does the CashKey work?
The CashKey is programmed at the time of purchase for a minimum
amount of $25 (plus and initial deposit of $20). When you fully
insert the key into the meter it displays the value remaining on
your key. The meter cannot register decimal points so it will round
down to the nearest dollar. Then the meter will automatically deduct
$.25 from your key balance and put time on the meter.
To register additional time on the meter, reinsert the CashKey.
The CashKey does not need to be completely removed before reinsertion,
so be careful to avoid unintentional reinsertions. When the meter
registers the amount of time you want, remove the CashKey and take
it with you.
Caution: The meter will not register more than the posted time allowed,
but it will continue to deduct $.25 from your CashKey each time
it is inserted. If the key is left inserted for more than five seconds,
the meter will flash in out-of-order mode until the key is removed.
This is to alert you in case you inadvertently leave the CashKey
in the meter. [ to top ]

What happens

time on the key. You can add value to your CashKey at any time,
so stop by and add value to your key before it runs out. [ to top ]

more than one CashKey?
Yes, but there is a $20 deposit required for each key in addition
to your minimum purchase. [ to top ]
What
if I lose my CashKey?
The CashKey is the equivalent of money. Since The Office of Parking & Transportation Services
has no way of knowing the value left on the lost key or whether
it is being used by someone else, we cannot issue a refund or return
your deposit. [ to top ]
What if I
move? Can I get a refund on my CashKey?
You can return your CashKey and receive a credit for the remaining
value programmed on the CashKey along with your deposit as long
as your CashKey is returned undamaged. [ to top ]
What if my
CashKey is damaged?
CashKeys are extremely durable and able to withstand heat, cold,
and moisture. They are also unaffected by magnetic or x-ray exposures,
such as airport security. Since normal usage should not affect your
CashKey, no refunds will be issued unless we can determine the remaining
balance on your key. [ to top ]
What is the
cost for meter parking?
The parking meters are set at different hourly rates ($.60 per hour
and $.60 per 75 minutes) depending on the location. The CashKey
functions like an American quarter when you insert it. One key insertion
gives you 30 or 37 minutes worth of parking, depending on location
and subject to the posted meter rates. [ to top ]
How do I purchase
a CashKey?
CashKeys are available at Parking and Transportation Services, located
in the Turner Avenue Garage, Level 2, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday, except official holidays observed by the University.
There is a one time deposit of $20 per key. CashKeys can be purchased

Remember: While
the CashKey guarantees that you will have a convenient cashless
way to pay for parking, it does not guarantee you a space. Parking
meter spaces are available on a first-come- first-serve basis. Also,
use of the CashKey does not permit you to park beyond the "maximum
stay" posted on the meter. For more information about the CashKey,
call Parking and Transportation Services at (573) 882-4568. [ to top ]
